a visit to the carnegie institution for science in washington, d.c.

A long time ago I used to do vendor features on this blog, and it's something I've been meaning to start doing again. So today, I'd like to take you on a virtual visit to the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, D.C.

By the way, all of the photos in this post were taken by me, with my camera phone. I'm not much of a photographer, so for really great pictures be sure to visit the Carnegie Institution's website.

The Carnegie Institution is one of the DC area's most popular wedding venues, and for good reason: It has all the beauty and grandeur often associated with classic DC buildings, plus the layout is fantastic and it's in a lovely neighborhood, on P Street NW right between Dupont Circle and Logan Circle.

Here's what you need to know:

LOCATION: 1530 P Street NW, Washington, DC 20005

MAXIMUM CAPACITY: 150 guests for a seated reception with dancing

CEREMONY, RECEPTION, OR BOTH? Both, if you like! The Carnegie Institution has spaces that will accommodate your entire wedding day beautifully.

DO YOU HAVE TO WORK WITH APPROVED VENDORS? Yes and no. The Carnegie Institution does require you to work with an approved caterer, and they already have many of DC's best caterers on their approved list. If you want to work with a caterer not on the list, then they'll need to go through the approval process. All caterers must be licensed and insured.

IS THE VENUE ADA ACCESSIBLE? Yes, there's an elevator for guests who can't navigate stairs.

These large tablets featuring questions about science and our world greet guests as they step off of the elevators. They're a fun touch in such a grand building... and they make my scientist brain happy.
