Today we're taking a look back allllll the way to... last year! Yup, really reaching back into the archives for this one, but it was such a GREAT wedding moment, and it makes me smile just thinking about it! So here's what's going on in these pictures:
Ray, the groom (he's in the white vest in the top photo), secretly took all of his groomsmen out on the morning of the wedding for dance lessons. The mission was to learn choreography to surprise his lovely bride, Athena (that's her in the white dress in the bottom picture), with a flashmob dance to one of her favorite songs, You Don't Know You're Beautiful by One Direction. The sneakiness went off without a hitch.
After dinner we had the first dance and the very sweet father-daughter dance, then Ray and his mom took the floor for their mother-son dance to My Wish, by Rascal Flatts. They danced together for about a minute, then the DJ scratched that song and switched over to One Direction.
On that cue, all the groomsmen jumped out onto the floor, Ray's mom went and sat down with Athena (that's Ray's mom in the blue dress to Athena's right, laughing so hard she's crying), and we all got a great show. The guys absolutely nailed it! They looked like they were having so much fun, and Ray was all out singing the song to Athena. It was a grand, joyous, hilarious expression of love.
To be honest, I've never been a huge fan of that particular One Direction song, but now every time I hear it on the radio I get a huge grin on my face thinking back to that awesome flashmob moment at Athena and Ray's wedding. Weddings are the best, and I especially loved these two and their families.
I'll just be over here at my desk grinning for the rest of the day. :)
