Back in October, I had the pleasure of working with floral designer Holly Chapple on a wedding at the Thomas Birkby House in Leesburg, Virginia. I created some neat little chalkboards to use as table numbers for that wedding. Here's one all set up next to Holly's gorgeous table arrangements:
The chalkboards worked out so well for this wedding, and Holly thought so too! She asked if I could create some for her as well, and of course I was thrilled. I've long been a fan of her work, and I was delighted to contribute to her design stash. Here's what I created for her:
For my Birkby bride and groom, I used a soft green for the undercoat to go with their wedding colors. Holly wanted something a little more neutral, and, as she put it, "like old wood". I mixed a rich chocolaty black/brown for the undercoat, and while I was initially concerned that it wouldn't provide enough contrast with the chalkboard topcoat, I think it worked out beautifully:
The chalkboards with the brown undercoat are weathered and warm, and they looked beautiful at the wedding Holly designed. Want to see them in action? Check out the posts on Holly's blog here and here.
Thanks, Holly, for making me a small part of your team for that gorgeous wedding. I hope you and your new chalkboards have lots of happy travels together!
